All About The Music
West Coast Swing "INTENSIVE"

This is a rare opportunity to spend some quality time with one of the most respected dance experts, entertainers and educators in the world of West Coast Swing. This class meets in two sessions:
Friday 11 AM - 1 PM
Saturday 11 AM - 1 PM

The material presented will be brand new. Even if you've recently attended another session with Robert you'll want to enroll for this new session. Partners are not required. There is no skill prerequisite, however you should have a thorough working knowledge of social West Coast Swing dancing and its current terminolgy. Class size is limited. Save your spot now. The cost is $95 before November 12th. Select the intensive from the "workshops" tab when you register online.

Class Description:
Three songs are played in the Prelims round of the Jack and Jill you're in... One of them is a fast old-school blues song and panic sets in! The DJs don't always play this style of blues music late at night and the teachers don't teach to it anymore! What should you do?" Come to the Robert Royston intensive and learn how to dance to multiple styles of music. Robert will be breaking down the different styles of music that are played  not just on the social floor but on the competitive floor

About Robert Royston...

Robert Royston is an 8x US Open swing champion in 5 different divisions, who holds 4 World Country Dance titles, 3 USA Grand Nationals titles, and 4 Phoenix Champion of Champion Jack and Jill trophies. The '14 and '15 National Association of Swing Dance Events (NASDE) tour Champion, and a member of 5 different dance Halls of Fame, Royston has performed, choreographed, and produced on film, tv, and stage for over thirty years. His career-long devotion to being the best teacher he can be has led him to train in many systems of movement, and has helped earn him the reputation as one of the greatest teachers in the world of dance today. Oh... And he is the "voice" of over 20 events a year!

Testimony:

Some of it was "Oh yeah, I've incorporated that since last time." Some of it was, "Ah, that's right, gotta keep after that". And some of it was "Oh, new and interesting!". All of it was pure Royston. What that means is: Really great material, fully prepped, enthusiastically, meticulously, unambiguously and non-dogmatically explained, demonstrated and drilled, with acknowledgement and respect of alternative methods and beliefs, courtesy and respect for the students (as people and customers), and good management of the lesson time fitting everything in (alot, incl. Q&A!) yet without ever feeling rushed.
Not every teacher or teaching pair reaches this high standard, but Robert and Nicola toss it off as a matter of course. Must be the benefit of synthesizing and distilling 30yrs of experience (per Robert)!
For those who weren't at the Intensive, but were at the larger group lesson "Expert Breakdown of Whips", it was much like that, only covering 3 times the material across a variety of subjects.
My advice, if you ever find yourself right there in the same building as the Royston Intensive, don't think twice about buying that special ticket. I can't imagine you'd ever regret it.
